Business Case for Data Governance

Data Governance: Monitor and Automate Access Control

Many IT professionals are challenged to manage their unstructured data such that access is controlled and limited by business need, and its use is continually monitored. As a leading provider of security offerings throughout the region, we sought to partner with Varonis Systems, a partner with a unique set of data governance solutions to address this escalating problem.

Access Control, the rules governing access to this data, is broken within most enterprises – meaning employees having far too much access; much more than they need to do their job.

Varonis Systems address these problems by providing:

  1. Visibility into who owns the data and who has access to it
  2. An audit trail of every file accessed by every user across all of your file servers
  3. Recommendations on who should have their access revoked

Digital Controls Technology Services Group and Varonis Systems provide you the tools to fix access control across the enterprise.

  • Do you have 500 or more users on your network?
  • Does your organization use shared file systems (file servers), with at least 1TB of shared data?
  • If your organization is distributed geographically, do you have a centralized location with 500 or more users?
With your shared file systems/servers, do you utilize the following technologies?
  • Network Appliance NAS version 6.4 and above
  • Windows-based file servers
  • Any SAN, as long as the front end is a Windows file server (EMC, Hitachi)
  • Only CIFS protocol/filesystem is supported at this time
Is your use central user repository (directory), based on the following technologies:
  • Microsoft Windows NT Domain version 4.0
  • Microsoft Active Directory (2000 and 2003)
If you've answered "yes" to these questions, a lot of enterprises do, you could benefit from
our unique data governance solutions.
